Mob mentality is a result of emotional suggestion. In any situation where people receive the approval of a group they respond differently than they would if they were by themselves in a similar situation. This occurs as a result of the fact that when a person responds to the people in their immediate environment. Any critical thinking that an individual may have is suspended.
What this means is that there are times when everyone is consciously or unconsciously more responsive to suggestion than might usually be the case.
